FOR TODAY
Outside my window... It's August! Where has the summer gone? It's been a rather nice summer. It's cooler this August than it was last August. We've been averaging about 84 degrees.

I am thinking... Thinking about what I need to get going and doing the next few weeks. I've been sick this whole week with a cough and slight fever. It ruined my plans for what I wanted to accomplish recently. I did pin many things on Pinterest this week.
I am thankful... After uploading my former blog on here, I was thinking about how much I have to be thankful for. I absolutely love living here. The Lord knows that. He let us come back and enjoy southern California a bit longer. I am very thankful for all that I have.
In the kitchen... Since I have been sick, my husband hired a maid who also cooks for us. . . just joking! :-) I've still been cooking this week. Nothing exciting from the kitchen. My throat is sore, so I've had lots of soup. I made Hot and Sour Soup on Tuesday. I had Cheesey Chicken and Rice Soup on Thursday for lunch with grilled cheese sandwich. Last night I made breakfast, fried eggs, hashbrowns and toast. Have you seen this? It sorta works...I need to perfect my method a bit.
I am wearing... I am wearing casual, comfortable clothes right now. I skipped church today to keep people away from coughing self.
I am creating... I completed sewing the crib set for my soon-to-be granddaughter, Cathryn. I've got a few more projects I want to sew for her. Things like decorated burp cloths, embellished long sleeve onsies, over-sized receiving blankets. I've got at least 4 more truck loads of mulch to haul to complete that project. I've got at least one day to spend in the garden pulling out plants and replanting with a different crop. The spaghetti squash and pumpkin are blooming and they look really great.
I am going... I've got to go shopping this week. Running out of important things like cat food and paper plates. I missed out on a trip to Seaworld last week because of my coughing self. I'm also ditching on a return trip to Legoland tomorrow. That's all I can see for travels for the next few days. There is a bluegrass festival up in north county on the weekend that I want to attend.
I am praying... I've been praying recently for far away family. Exciting changes coming up for some of them. Praying for little Cathryn. A few more weeks and we shall meet. Praying for more family time to spend together. Praying for wisdom about the future for our little family.
I am reading/watching... I am between books at the moment.
We've been watching many shows and movies. A family favorite right now is Robin Hood.
I am looking forward to... I am looking forward to gettingsome all of my projects completed before I head to Alaska to sniff a new baby.
(this will eventually have a whole load of mulch dumped on it!)
Around the house... Literally a lot of my time has been spent on the computer the last week or so, trying to get this blog organized. I've got serious cat hair problems floating around on the floor. Things need vacuuming.
I am pondering... Does it feel like fall to you as well? It must be something in the air or the way the sun is positioned. It feels a bit like fall, even here in southern California. We ordered a new top for our tent camper. I can't wait until it gets here because I want to use it to go camping. Which leads me to ponder...why does one dog owner, careless and irresponsible, ruin things for us responsible dog owners? Some of the camp grounds around here will allow you to bring your dog. But said dog is not allowed to go with you on hiking trails or the beach. And said dog is not allowed to be left alone in your camp spot.
Some of my favorite things... it's food this week...
A peek into my days...
Sully and his Dad have been working in the garage on the "TOY" ota. They are converting the old brake system to disk brakes and replacing the water pump.

So good to see you up and running again. I sort of cheated here and unsubbed, which deleted all the former posts from my blogger inbox. I'll resub in a day or two.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the colors you've chosen for granddaughter! It's all so very pretty.
good to hear from you again girl! Hope you get restored back to good health sooon! As for Fall in the air, We said the same thing yesterday and we are in Florida! Not sure what it is but I like it!
ReplyDeleteI put out my Fall stuff yesterday. Am really feeling it!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Simple Woman. Sorry you've been sick. Your garden looks lovely. I would like to start a garden some day. Love the beddings. I've been to San Diego and it was beautiful. We are in Maryland. Hope you feel better this week. I'll follow you.
ReplyDeleteWe've been married 24 years and this is our first 'real' garden. It's done really well and we're enjoying sharing our produce (Zucchini) with neighbors and friends at church.
DeleteThe bedding was fun, I haven't sewn a crib set since 2006 for a friend in Alaska. I've got a few more sewing projects to send to my granddaughter. I'll be sure to take and post pictures on here so you can see. Nice to meet you Eileen :-)
Your garden is beautiful! Are those lemons?! Oh! How fun to have lemons growing so close I can just pick them! How exciting to be getting a new granddaughter. Our friends are in the military and just this summer were stationed in Alaska. We are hoping (and it's a big hoping!) to visit them. But with 5 kids and 2 parents...that's a lot of airplane tickets. Or...it's a 62 hour drive. Which we would love to do, but don't really have the time.
ReplyDeleteI need to import all my old posts. How did you do yours? Did you do one at a time?
Hope you feel better soon! No one should have a fever during the summer. ;)
Happy Tuesday to you.
It was HARD to transfer the xanga. If you didn't already do it, make sure you request the wordpress xml archive from xanga that they offer. Save it to a file on your computer. Then you have to download a file splitter and a wordpress to blogspot conversion tool. Then each split and converted file you upload (import) to your blogspot and it "should" work. If you're interested I'll get you the links for the conversion tool and the file splitter.
DeleteThe lemons, grapefruit, limes, kumquats and other citrus fruit all grow at one neighbors house or another. They've been really generous to share and get offended it we pick it from one neighbor and not another. I'm anxious to get out to the garden this week and turn some dirt and plant some new seeds.
BTW because Alaska is so landlocked, flying is mainly the way to travel up there. Tickets are atrociously expensive. I'm looking at $900 round trip, EACH person. If you know someone up there, you should go. Alaska is amazing.
Your garden looks fantastic. Those zucchinis really come on strong this time of year, don't they? Our garden has only been planted for about a month and we only have one zucchini plant, but harvest a "forearm" size zucchini about 3 times a week. It has been too cool here on the coast, but I am sure it is nice to not have the heat. I take it you are inland a bit? Maybe some day we will meet, as you are probably only an hour and a bit away.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better. So exciting to have a grand on the way! Your sewing is lovely.
