With a big move day looming, my husband and oldest son have been diligently working on finishing up the restoration of our 1974 Toyota Landcruiser.  We had a deadline of June 10 to have it reliably running.  This is after everything being disassembled for all the work they did to it.  (that is a HUGE list and a post for another blog!)  It has not been running since June 2007. Today after some final tweaking the Toyota started right up and almost purred like a kitten.  We are sending it with an auto shipper out of our remote, rural Alaska headquarters to head across country, finally arriving in New Jersey waiting for us to pick it up after we arrive there sometime after July 21.  After all the work, we all want to ride in it.  Today it was nasty raining and the forecast is for more for the next few days.

Sad Goodbyes

May Toyota 019

This is the camping rig of our dear friends, who have served alongside us , both in the military and in church, these last two years.  They headed out today, moving for Northern California. (I wish I was going !)  They have been RV parking in our driveway for a little over two weeks.

My friend and I have enjoyed some great fellowship over the past two years.  We share many of the same interests.  She learned some new interests as well.  I taught her how to fish!  We also had some great cooking lessons in our kitchens~ Salmonberry Jam, Mexican, Chinese and many more.  She had a baby while she was here that she generously shared with me too!  I'll miss you dear sister in Christ!  Have a safe and blessed journey...

It's Friday!

My husband has the day off today to work on his '74 Toyota Land Cruiser restoration project.  10 more days to go and it has to be running to make it to the auto shippers to arrive in New Jersey.  He is waiting for a part to come in today.

Not sure what I will do today.  It is already late in the morning.  I made pancakes for breakfast and started the dishwasher.  I need to make a grocery list, trying to incorporate the things in the cupboards that need to be eaten.

We are probably going to have company Sunday afternoon for lunch after church.  My husband invited another officer to perform his swearing in ceremony on Sunday.  I'll try to take a couple pictures.  My husband requested it be totally informal.

Have a great day!

Just One More!

This is my great man after casting in one more time before we head home for the night.  You can't see it, but there is a fish he is reeling in.  You can almost see the big smile on his face.  His first fish of spring/summer.

The beautiful blossom of a blueberry bush.

I am amazed at all the beautiful spring pictures I see this time of year.  Here in Alaska, spring is just starting to emerge.   We will miss the blueberry harvest this August.   I believe it will be a bumper crop.  Enjoy the day God gives you today!

Hi everyone! I'm just getting started on Xanga... Drop me a comment if you've got some ideas on what to do first - or just to say, "Hi!" :-)

First Time For Everything

Thank You ,sister O' mine, for getting me addicted to your blog.  You are such a sweetie pie.  Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I guess.

Here I am posting on a blog.  I decided to do this so I can document a big move we are taking in about 4 weeks.  After the move we'll see how well I can keep this up.  My husband is in the military and he is making Warrant Officer on June 1.  With the promotion comes a transfer.  We are going from rural, rural Alaska to New York City.  About a 5,000 mile trip in our trusty Dodge Caravan with two children, (both boys) aged 17 and 5, one dog age 2 named Banjo and one cat aged 8 named Shadow.

As time allows I will try to post more about myself and my family.
