Snow Storm Update

((Taken on Saturday During the snow storm.))

We weathered the storm just fine.  Living next to that power station has it's little blessings.  We never lost power!  We've only lost a few branches from the trees in the backyard.  I'm guessing we had about 3 inches of slushy snow altogether.

Bachelor David came over on Saturday and had a hot meal, dessert and kept cozy with us for a few hours.  We were going to take him to the stores, but his stores were out of power.

((This pictures is the snow left this morning and a few of the branches that fell.))

I am looking forward to the almost 60 degree days we'll have Wednesday and Thursday.  I am just not ready for winter to start in October!!  On Saturday I had to keep poking myself, saying "This is New Jersey, not Alaska!"

Family Photo Shoot~ Oops

(click on image for a larger view!)

I am thankful that I am not alone in my quest for the ultimate, perfect family picture.  Since my oldest son was small, I've felt like we are Calvin and his family at picture taking time. Amber at grace-to-be so eloquently expressed her feeling in her post, I can relate Amber!!

squint y eyes~ bright light

floppy hair~ gusting wind

where is Banjo looking?  . .  and. . .is this my slimmer side?

Calvin is being expressed by #2 son!  Manly man is squint y.

Yep, all the buttons are done, zipper check . . .o.k.!

floppy hair AND eyes closed.

My picture taking skills leave a lot to be desired.

Gosh, that wind really does a number on my fine textured hair!

"Okay son when I say stand up straight and tall, shoulders back, I really mean 'See if you can squeeze your hiney into the space between the fence rails okay?' "

And while your trying to fit your hiney in there, make a really thoughtful face, okay?

Hello, lady on the bridge?  Are you paying attention?

Oh, excuse me while I adjust my clothing.

Wake up!  Hey Lady, Wake up!

I am actually doing what I was told by my photographer.  Not sure what he saw in this picture?  Maybe it was payback for some of the poses I made him do.

There is nothing wrong with this picture as Banjo is almost ALWAYS photogenic!

Yippee . . .photo shoot is done lets throw rocks into mud puddles, play with sticks and GET DIRTY!  By the way, where was this smile when we were taking all those OTHER pictures?

~~It's Thursday!~~

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...  Rainy, blustery, chilly.  It's a good day for snuggling and drinking something to warm your bones.  Is our Indian Summer gone already?  Sunday's tempreture is only supposed to reach 44 degrees.  BBbbbrrrrr

I am thinking...I am thinking about stuff and things.

I am thankful...  (my fortune from a fortune cookie this last week.)

From the learning rooms...No school while Dad has the week off.  Piano practise continues.

I am thinking about cracking open my course work.

In the kitchen...  Tonight I am tired . . . so I pulled a casserole from the freezer, Tuna Twist with a small green salad to go with it.

Friday-  Hamburgers and French fries
Saturday-  Whole Roasted, Lemon Chicken with roasted veggies, Pumpkin Sour Cream coffeecake
Sunday- Salmon Patties, Mashed potatoes, Garlic broccoli

Around the House... Laundry from our trip is almost done but not put away yet.  House fairly clean.  Spice scented  candle burning. . .the furnace has been turned on!

I am wearing...  Jeans and a 3/4 sleeve tee shirt with roosters on it.  I was playing with that new camera on Friday.  This is what I wore AND how I fixed my hair.

I am creating...  I have many unfinished projects.  Most of those projects are piled in the dining room on the floor.  Mostly same as you saw last week. . .

. . . and the week before that

I am reading/watching... Nothing exciting in the reading department.  We finished the series "Pie in the Sky"  We are all disappointed that it's over.  It was a great show.

We are enjoying The Magnificent Seven and Ironside.

I am praying...  I am still praying for the desires of my heart.  For my spirit, which is low.  For far away family whom I miss very much.

I am hearing...  Machine gun fire from my sound FX #2 son.  He makes some great noises.  The space heater is on, keeping my nose warm.

One of my favorite things...  Fall comfort.  I've already said I love comfort food.  I love being cozy in a warm bed reading and eating popcorn.

I love being comforted by his arms~

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Bachelor David this weekend.  Not sure what our other plans will be.  We haven't been able to take our family pictures yet.  Now the weather isn't co-operating!

Something to share...  More pictures of our Niagra Falls Trip

Where Have I Been?

My manly man has taken leave (vacation days for you non-military folk) this week.  On Saturday he took us on a trip he has been wanting to go on for quite some time.  We enjoyed a peaceful drive away from the crazy traffic here in New Jersey.

Can you guess where we went?

Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

Our hotel recognized Banjo as an honored guest.

The scenery was spectacular at the falls.  Crowds were nonexistent as we visited on Monday, during the public school week and off-off season for the town.

My manly man really let his hair down (ha-ha) and took us to one of the most expensive restaurants I've ever been to.  We had a fantastic view of the entire city and a spectacular view of the falls from this place. . .

I had a seafood sampler.  My manly man had steak.

We enjoyed some peace and beautiful scenery!
