Our family, 1993
Outside My Window~ Sunny outside my window. It has been either warm and humid with rain, or just warm. My kitty spent several hours this afternoon fascinated by the falling leaves in the back yard. My window was open and she was enjoying the breeze and sounds of rustling leaves. She was acting like a kitten.
I believe the trees in my yard are about done with their big show of color. Most of the leaves are blown off now, except in a few areas. The oaks still have a lot of leaves.
A Few Plans for the Upcoming Week~ Next week I'll be back to my routine of keeping the home and being a teacher.
From The Learning Room~ No school this week in favor of a big city adventure. I can see a nice picture coming of something my student enjoyed about the city
I Am Wearing~ In my p.j.'s since 1:00 o'clock this afternoon. I am tired!
I Am Creating~ Got my thinking cap on. Going to get that photo album project completed. I need to start writing my annual Christmas letter.
I Am Praying~ Still praying very hard for #1 son. We still have not heard from CG recruiter. Continue to pray that my son's application will stand out and he will be selected!
Praying for wisdom. Praying for the desires of my heart.
Around The House~ Our family comes back to stay the night tomorrow. I am putting them in my bed and my manly man and I will be camping out in the basement family room. Tomorrow I'll need to wash sheets and vacuum.
From The Kitchen~ For Friday- beef tips with egg noodles, garlic green beans, green salad, apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Saturday morning- Pancakes, eggs, fried potatoes, sausage. Sandwiches for lunch. We'll take the bachelors out to Old Country Buffet Sunday afternoon so I can get rested up!
I Am Enjoying~ I have enjoyed a couple books by this author recently. Some of her writings deal with spiritualism (such as psychics) but for the most part, a decent reading mystery. She has several books in a series about an elderly, woman, CIA agent, Mrs. Pollifax. TCM happens to be playing a movie about Mrs. Pollifax tonight.
One Of My Favorite Things~ Spending time with far away family. Last night we double dated. We went to a barbecue place off of Time Square, then thoroughly enjoyed the Broadway show, WICKED!
I Am Sharing~ Remember the magazine I found last year put out by Gooseberry Patch? I found another one for 2010. It has many good ideas for Christmas gifts, recipes and ideas.
~~Have a great weekend Friends!!~~
#2 son and I braved the commuter trains and subways yesterday. We went to the big city to spend the day with Aunt Cari. We spent a few hours wandering Chelsea Market then we walked through the south end of central park. I really loved Chelsea Market. That's where we enjoyed lunch. Crab Bisque with a Chibatta sandwich.
A dairy store
Posing by the Halloween decorations
Making a batch of Sushi
Our favorite shop sold flavored olive oil, vinegar and salt. I came home with Coconut flavored vinegar and Peach flavored vinegar.
A kitchen supply store
A much needed Starbucks break!
Waiting for our subway
My loaf of Amy's sourdough bread. Yummy with Mexican Chicken soup!
Getting ready for our company to arrive. I finished the gift for my sister in law.
This is what it contained.
On Saturday we drove to the country to view the fall colors and went apple picking at this orchard.
There were a few apples at the tops of the trees and so many on ground. I think maybe the wind blew them down.
We also picked our "Pumpkin Pie" pumpkins.
We also stopped at a little farm to have fresh cider and cider doughnuts.
See the powdered sugar? It was a very tasty doughnut!
Resting our feet and checking in with the children back home.
1/2 of these fabulous apples turned into a pie for our dessert.
Today I think we are going to go people watch at a mall and go to Cheesecake Factory for lunch. That is. . . when Cari takes the right train out to our NJ suburbs!
~~It Is Thursday!~~
Outside My Window~ Sunny. It is sunny but cool. The last few days we've barely made 60 degrees. It sure does feel like fall. And where does the time go? It is almost November!
The trees in my yard continue to change color. They are gorgeous!
A Few Plans for the Upcoming Week~ Company is coming! We're planning an apple picking, fall color adventure, maybe Saturday. We're going to go see the broadway production of Wicked as a double date. We managed to find some pretty good seats. I'd like to wander Central Park and go see Chelsea Market in the city one day.
From The Learning Room~ Lots of big words with many vowels. Addition and subtraction and spelling list 4 already. I think I made need to taylor those spelling lists a bit more. We are trying to do double days and having almost two spelling lists a week. . . not working for me.
I Am Wearing~ Khaki capri's, gray long sleeved shirt, socks, hair pulled back.
I Am Creating~ My painting project didn't turn out like I had planned. My flowers are great and turned out nicely. I am not so great at filling in the backgrounds. I will not be giving away either painting. I AM going to see if I can sand the paint off the board and start over.
I Am Praying~ Still praying very hard for #1 son. We have not heard from CG recruiter yet. Please join me in praying that my son's application will stand out and he will be selected!
Praying for wisdom. Praying for the desires of my heart.
Around The House~ It's clean. It's presentable. A bit of this and a bit of that to do before my company arrives tomorrow night. I need to dust, vacuum, change my bed sheets. Take out clothes from the closet for the weekend. And move some things to the basement for my manly man and I on our weekend campout.
From The Kitchen~ Either leftovers or sweet and sour chicken with brown rice. Tomorrow I will need to finish putting together a soup for Saturday and making a batch of scalloped potatoes, and that cherry/cranberry pie for Sunday dinner. We have Sunday off from the bachelors. Someone else is giving them a ride on Sunday. It's really thrown Mickey for confused loop.
I Am Enjoying~ I am enjoying McMillan and Wife, season one.
I bought myself a daily devotional this week. I am excited to get into that.
I searched through rows and rows of books and this was one of the only devotional that used the King James Version Bible only. The copy I purchased is not illustrated.
One Of My Favorite Things~ My family. I am so thankful that God gave them to me and I am thankful that we are compatible and enjoy being together.
I Am Sharing~ I am sharing a couple blogs and a few verses this week.
Remaking things. What a fascinating idea.
Psalms 105:3 "Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord."
Psalms 108:3 "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy."
