I tried finding a picture of myself on 8th grade graduation day. I know I have it somewhere...when you go to look for it, you can't find it. When you don't need it, there it is staring you in the face. Happens to me all the time. So anyway, no 8th grade graduation picture.
This fabulous picture is of myself (on left) and my wonderful sister in law(on right). My husbands family traveled to Oregon for a short visit with us. This trip was the first time I'd met my sister in law. This is spring of 1990. I was 20 and she is 19. I'd been married about 9 months.

ReplyDeleteif it was the first time you'd met your sis-in-law, did she not come to your wedding, or was your wedding a small private wedding?
ReplyDelete@floridayankees -A few weeks before we were going to get married, we went to Missouri so I could meet his parents, his brother and family and his best friend. School(college in Florida)had already started for her and she was not there. We actually didn't expect the parents to show up to our wedding either(they couldn't afford tickets) but someone in their church anonymously gave them money to fly out to our wedding in Oregon. I had spoken to her and written her but never actually met her. The time the photograph was taken, we were exploring the area around where we lived. I think we also took them fishing and on a picnic. I don't they stayed very long, 5 days?We enjoyed a very small wedding. My reception was potluck! I think we may have spent $500 total... for my dress, flowers, yacht club rental, love gift for the church. (My husband and I paid for everything) We may have had 30 friends and family there. It was the best wedding I have ever been too! So simple. We used the cash we had received as gifts to pay for our honeymoon. 4 night in hotels, 1 night camping and purchased the camping supplies.
ReplyDeletesounds like a neat wedding, too bad more people don't think like that and save money! similiar to us, we used our wedding cash mostly on honeymoon too and one night of camping!
